RULES: » no godmodding - if this is going to work, people are going to have to follow this rule. if you're not sure what this means by now, godmodding is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. it can be killing/injuring a character without the roleplayer's permission, it can be a character who successfully avoids and dodges every attack thrown at them, or can be using another person's character without permission. none of this please. » ooc stuff - there is to be no ooc drama. ic drama is encouraged, but ooc drama is a big no. this means no picking fights and no rudeness. let's just get along. if you have a problem with someone, talk it out through pm or something. » characters - all characters must be approved by me. do not start roleplaying before being accepted; that's just rude. » semi-advanced - posts are required to be composed of a few decent sentences AT LEAST. paragraphs are great. detail is everything, but i am also looking for quality posts. » plots - please don't initiate huge plots without at least notifying me first. your posts will be ignored, otherwise. » realism - okay, so this might have some elements of fantasy but we still need to be realistic. we can't have one man cutting through a whole army. make your characters interesting, but realistic too. as for abilities, i really don't want anything over the top. it might be best to check with me first. » questions - you can direct all questions towards me, either through pm or by just posting on the thread. i'll be happy to answer anything.

Name: Queen Lady Catherine Rotavele (née Windslor) Age:
35 Gender:
Female Personality:
Despite being of lower birth, Catherine walks about with a sense of pride as if she is entitled to her position. Though compassionate towards her children, she is a distrusting and paranoid individual - particularly since the death of her husband - often to the point of weakness. She has a tendency to speak out, even against her own husband, and her rage is not a thing easily quelled. Catherine does not forgive and she does not forget. Although she does have some redeeming qualities, such as bravery and resourcefulness, she can also be cold, ruthless, scheming and manipulative, making her unsuitable for queenship. It is thought that the King married her only for her beauty, ignoring her personality altogether. Notable Skills:
Resourcefulness, courage and willingness to act. Catherine's line is also rumored to have a strange affinity to nature - many accuse her of witchcraft for this reason. Notable Weaknesses:
No physical abilities, lack of trust, inability to forgive. History:
Born to a wealthy knight, Catherine is of a much lower birth than her previous husband. She was considered to be very beautiful in the traditional sense. She led a rather ordinary life at first, living out in the country with her mother and father, though she did inherit her mother's affinity to nature. At age sixteen, Catherine was sent to court to look after the king's third wife as a lady-in-waiting. The two grew particularly close, though it was not long before the king set his eyes upon the beautiful woman who attended to his wife. She refused his offer to become his mistress and in a surge of desperation, he proposed to divorce his current wife in order to marry her, and she accepted. Catherine did pity her former mistress, though the power-hungry part of her was satisfied as the king kept to his word and married her, despite his advisers attempting to convince him otherwise. Catherine was rather happy with her new position, but less so with her new husband, for she was only a maid of eighteen and he was fast approaching old age. In time however, she did grow to love him and gave him beautiful daughters, but no sons. After her husband's death, many sought to cast her out and name her daughters illegitimate for fear that she might take the throne, though Catherine was not so easily beat. She planned to flee her home with her daughters and bide her time to make her claim. Family:

The compassionate king that he was known for being was lost to Saul as he was raised to become a strong king. He was not shown much love when he was younger and resents his siblings because they had a closer relationship with their father. He also resents his father for his mothers death as he feels that his father should have protected his mother. It was an assassination attempt made on his father but only his mother happened to be in the quarters in an attempt to escape the assassin killed his mother Eleanor when he was 13. He was first on the scene as he heard her scream...., this is actually when he found out his affinity for steel as the assassin had jumped out the window and was escaping on horseback Saul grabbed a spear and instinctively threw it piercing and killing the assassin from many yards away. Despite losing his mother he became a great warrior and gained land for the kingdom he was nicknamed Ares the god of war. Name:
Elise Rotavele Age:
14 Gender:
Female Personality:
Rather kind and caring; much less cold than her mother, but still able to speak her mind when necessary. For the most part, Elise will avoid conflict at all costs and maintain what she calls her 'princess stance' in which she will smile and nod as she is supposed to. Earlier on in life, Elise did have some trouble realizing what exactly was expected of her, but she learnt. For one, she did not particularly enjoy feasts or parties because of the loud noise, and she did not like wearing certain types of dresses, describing them as being 'itchy'. In time, she was able to adapt as best she could, but still remains uncomfortable in some situations, often masking it with a smile. She often has difficulty understanding tones of voice. Elise takes rules very seriously and becomes upset when others do not follow them. She just can't understand it. Notable Skills:
Compassion for others and kindness. Elise is more willing to compromise than her mother. Also, she's very good at embroidery. Notable Weaknesses:
Lack of physical abilities and her naivety. Also her lack of intuition when it comes to others' feelings, or she could go in the complete opposite direction and have too much empathy. History:
Second-born daughter to her mother, Queen Catherine, and one of the youngest children of King Elric, Elise was forced to accept her fate from the day she was born. She would never be anything but a means through which to settle alliances between wealthy lords through marriage. Living in the shadow of her elder sister and her mother - both very beautiful specimens of ladies - Elise did have quite an enjoyable life, partaking in the activities thought suitable for a noble lady of her standing (sewing, dancing etc.) though despite the love shown to her by her parents, she could not help but feel just a little isolated from the rest of her family. Her half-siblings took very little notice of her, for little Elise would never do anything extraordinary - only marry when her father commanded it. She always felt as if she saw things differently, and in an attempt to navigate and socialise, took on rules and the laws of social etiquette quite literally. She also seeks to imitate the actions of princesses and maidens in stories. Elise was devastated by the death of her father, and it ostracized her even further from her siblings as all focus was shifted to the possible heirs. Unhappily, Elise continues to follow the commands of her mother. Family:

Gender: Male
Appearance:
Personality: Kind and gentle, vary intelligent.
Notable Skills: Untrained, but a natural affinity towards magic (his mother doesn't know.) not the best, but he is good with a sword. vary good at strategy.
Notable Weaknesses: not the strongest looking of the kings heirs, his kindness is at constant odds with his wit when it comes to his naivety (in other words, if you can catch him off guard, his kindness can make him vary naive.)
History: Brendan was once the true heir to the throne, and his mother loves to remind him of his "birthright" every waking moment of the day. The Rotavele line has many secrets, and for years people have believed them to have some form of magic in their veins, and Brendan is proof of that. although anyone can use magic with enough skill and years of practice, only a lineage could naturally produce magic like Brendan can. his first time using magic was in the garden of the castle, when he was 5 he found a dying rabbit. he was vary fond of nature, and started to cry over the dying bunny, and as his tears fell on the wounds, they miraculously closed up, he didn't know it at the time, but he had been the cause of the bunnies healing. he has practiced his magic in secret since he was 7, thinking that people would be afraid of him, and being afraid of what they would do if they found out. when he learned his father died he was vary upset, but his mother didn't give him a moment to grieve, the moment the raven came with the news was the moment he and his mother left their holdings and moved for the capital.

Chloe does not like being a girl, she doesn't mind it, but she feels like her life would be so much easier as a boy, since she wouldn't have to sneak out to be trained in the use of sword from an old blacksmith near the castle. she only wants to become queen so she can make a law allowing herself to become a knight.

It really depends who you ask. Some might call him self-centered and rash, whilst others might call him loyal and faithful. It cannot be argued that he is an intelligent man who takes opportunities as they come, and seeks the best for himself and his family. Notable Skills:
Intelligence, skill in diplomacy, a notable warrior and strategist. Notable Weaknesses:
Bad temperament, power-hungry, no real loyalty to anyone but himself and his family. History:
A great knight, and an even better diplomat, Frances Northwode is a man of intelligence and integrity. Knighted at the age of seventeen by the King himself, he seems to has done nothing but serve his liege faithfully, reaping all of the benefits bestowed upon him. At the age of twenty, he married Anne Newdegate; a woman he had been betrothed too since the age of six. To his dismay, the couple only had one daughter. Frances has since dedicated himself to finding a suitable match for her, so that their family may not be forgotten. He enjoys great popularity amongst all levels of nobility, and hypothetically could raise a great army for many are loyal to him. Name: William Mallowburne (Rotavele)
Age: 24
Gender: Male
Personality: Loving Kind, impulsive, selfish
Notable Skills: Great Archer second only to his brother Saul, Affinity with the wind
Notable Weaknesses: His lust for women, his sadness and lonliness
History: After the death of his fathers first wife from the Dalison noble house, king Rotavele mourned for a great amount of time when given the opportunity to remarry within the Dalison noble family he refused, he had instead chosen a woman from the Mallowburne noble family making them the new most powerful family at the time. This earned the hatred of the Dalison house but this made them believe that their bloodline Prince Saul could be the only true successor to the throne. This marriage to Kateryn Mallowburne was indeed impulsive they had children immediately. The king was not as invested in his children as nobles from the house of Mallowburne and their mother were truly the ones to raise him but the king did spoil William as he was getting older and his heart wasn't as heavy as before. The kindness he showed his sibling had angered prince Saul and he never saw prince William as a brother. The fateful day came when queen Kateryn died of a illness that had temporarily swept the land... and her death had impacted William in different ways. Prince William although still kind became impulsive and selfish. He was never good with the blade but archery seemed to suit him just well, over the years he actually fell in love with a woman from the Wudric noble family but when his father married Vespar, he wasn't allowed to pursue this romance as now in the eyes of the law that family was now his family as well. This caused William to look for other ways to silence his heart, through women, and it did help that the Mallowburne nobles were the richest out of the noble families. Also before his fathers death any attempts on his life as well were thwarted as he began being called the silver prince... some even believed it was a sign that he was meant to be king as only king Rotavele had never fallen to an enemy. Now with his fathers death there is a chance that he could become king but there is some secrets being kept in his family.

Lucy Middleton (last name is from her supposed Mother). Age:
24 Gender:
Female Personality:
Lucy is a quiet, reserved thing, having learned to keep her mouth shut through years of being ignored and looked down upon. More comfortable in mail than dresses, she would much rather practice archery than attend feasts and dance. Lucy enjoys reading stories about knights and takes vows very seriously. Should you earn her loyalty, you would find her to be undyingly faithful. Notable Skills:
Skills in combat, swiftness and agility, loyalty. Notable Weaknesses:
Bad fine motor skills (i.e. she can't sew very well), slightly awkward and clumsy with her courtesies, difficulty conforming. History:
Lucy has grown up believing that she is the bastard daughter of the King and a woman who died giving birth to her. Her father gave her nothing but a name, refusing to disclose any other information about her mother to her. Lucy has grown up amongst her supposed half-siblings for as long as she can remember, though she grew much closer to the males of the royal family, finding that they did not judge her as harshly for her baseborn status. When she was old enough, she was made a lady-in-waiting for her father's trueborn daughters, and now works under the instruction of Lady Catherine, his most recent wife, who she resents. Unbeknownst to her, Lucy is the (slightly older) fraternal twin sister of the king's son William. With new social changes coming about, the king did not want his daughter causing trouble for any of his younger sons who might inherit his title, and so passed her off as a bastard of some mistress. Despite not knowing of her true birth, Lucy did grow close to William more so than her other siblings, taking up the same hobbies as him. Over the years she has become a skilled swordsman. Family:

It is a dark time in the land... the great king Elric Rotavele has passed... leaving no definite heir to the throne how will the land recover and what about the enemies of the land what will they do during this time of uncertainty.
We begin at the funeral of the great king
The land is silent as everyone from every noble house was present for the kings funeral. As the banners of the noble houses were raised and the people chanted the great kings name. With his Royal blade being carried by his oldest son Saul, it is as if the sky itself cried as it drizzled a light rain as he passed onto the next world. At his gravesite many priest were blessing the ground. All the kings heirs were present, even the daughter's he had with his most recent wife Catherine.
As he was laid into the ground and the speeches were given...Prince Saul placed the blade on his fathers chest as he was buried with it. This was a peaceful night because of his death but they all knew the next day the war for the throne would begin.
At the main Castle
Vespar and prince Brendan were present... and prince Saul, and William. With their mothers passing as will the two princes were present with nobles from their houses... Catherine and the Princesses Rosalie, Elise and Chloe were present.
They stayed in the main castle to show the land solidarity but Vespar wanted the heir to the throne decided immediately.
(Vespar) "With the death of my former husband the king... i believe the only true successors to the throne are prince Saul and Brendan don't you think so Catherine" she says with much animosity towards Catherine but she was happy as knowing having only girls would weaken any claim she has.
Prince William looked surprised that he was not considered.....
Brendan sat up in his chair at the mention of his name, he had not been paying much attention since the ceremony ended, he look at Saul and smiled half heartedly. he didn't care about the throne, but his mother would never let him hear the end of it if he didn't at least fain interest. "Mother, perhaps tonight isn't the time to bring all this up, after all, our Father just...just died." he said, chocking on the last word, he hadn't said it out loud before now, and it was surprising to hear, even though he knew his father was dead, somehow saying it made the event more real.
Chloe looked at Vespar with an angry look, she had totally disregarded Chloe as a possible successor, which made her angry, but she was too upset at her fathers passing to say anything, so she just sat in her seat and listened.
Widowhood is becoming of this one; Catherine had borne great love for her king and husband until death had claimed him as his own (though she did wonder if it were her title she had loved so much, and not the man who had given her everything). Eyes glazed over, she had remained solemn and sincere during the ceremony, merely nodding politely to those who sought to console the Queen Dowager. Now, Catherine cast gaze upon her former mistress and queen with contempt and just a hint of smugness -- for once she had been just a commoner girl lusted after by a king, but she had risen from the ashes and spread her wings so that she might soar higher so than the former queen herself. Though when Vespar speaks of successors and heirs in her time of mourning, her slight curvature of lips fades. Then, as the witch's own son protests, amusement bestows itself upon soft lips once more, and the beauty does speak,
❝ Lady Vespar -- I fear that the rules of succession have slipped your mind.
as have your courtesies. My former husband bore many children, long
before your beloved son. The law of the land dictates that they should inherit
first, before your kin. ❞
Your blood shall not sit the throne.
❝ Would you name poor William a bastard, then? And my own children?
You would name your queen a whore? I bid you listen to your son,
he has more sense than you do. ❞
She is treading on dangerous ground, but Catherine does not care. Meanwhile, Elise does watch in fascination, not fully comprehending the situation at hand. All she knows is that her father is dead; it is a great tragedy when kings die, but the next will come. She looks to her siblings in an attempt to understand.
❝ My dear widow Catherine... the laws
of the land stipulate that the king shall name his successor.
With him passing before he could do so ... would you name
a female child who is not of age the queen of this land. Thy
lips never called the queen a whore but prince William
is clearly not fit to king ...but Saul is of age and has seen
many battles and I a former queen can stand by and rule by
Brendan... till he is ready to take command.❞
She said these words as cold as ice, was her hatred for the former queen Catherine so great that it over shadowed the grief she should have
been feeling for the late king.
Vespa- ❝ The years i stood by him and ruled by his side,
Even before I became queen were quite prosperous.
I gave my body and continued the line of son's for the late Elric.
What does he do send me back to the noble house of Wudric as
A lady but i guess he fell for your....Womanly charms Catherine.
Are you saying your young children better than my son and I
are whats best for the land?❞
Prince William stood up and left he cared not for her words.....as he left the throne room....he spoke....
William- ❝ The witch queen speaks, the lands future king is the war mongering Saul
or the puppet prince Brendan hahaha only moments after they lay my father
to rest. Hear me Vespa the wicked the fight for the throne will not be decided
today because i will fight for my fathers legacy no matter who stands in my
way, will be struck down by my very arrows.❞
Saul- ❝ENOUGH WITH YOUR BICKERING!!!.❞
The eldest prince spoke leaving the throne room himself leaving his advisor.
Princess Rosalie grabbed her mothers hand tightly she saw the look in each of the eyes of the men she called brother's. Such anger in the eyes of one, greed in the other and sorrow in another. Unlike her younger sisters Elise and Chloe she comprehended what was going on ... she didn't know if the throne was her rightful place but to defend her mother's name she would go to any lengths.
Brendan gets up and looks around the room, yestarday this room was full of Brothers and Sisters, today it was full of Competitors. "If anyone needs me...I will be in the gardens thinking." he said solemnly, he walked down the dark empty corridors of the castle in silence until he made it to the great wooden doors that lead to the center garden of the castle. he stepped outside and found a soft patch of grass to sit in. he sat there for a second in silence, then he suddenly slammed both his fists into the ground, a tear ran down his face, a tear of anger, a tear of Sorrow. he fell onto his back and put his hands to his eyes. "I couldn't heal him." he thought "why hadn't it worked?" he had healed rabbits, he had healed his horses broken leg. he even healed his own cuts and bruises after sword practice, so why couldn't he heal his father. he knew it was to late when he arrived at the castle seconds after his death was officially announced, but he thought maybe he could muster enough of his "gift" to bring him back. he opened his eyes and wiped away the tears, he was smart enough to know that crying wouldn't solve anything, but he didn't want to hold it in like his mother always did. he looked down to see that in his anger he had crushed one of the gardens beautiful flowerbeds. he held his hands over it and they emitted a faint green glow, the flowers grew straight once more, and they began to regrow their pedals. he sat back against the wall and smiled, he started to remember all the kind things his father had done as king, he remembered when he was young and lived in the castle, he wanted to be just like him. it wasn't until he was older that he learned that not everyone is as kind as they appear, but he wanted to remember his father as a good man, and so he closed his eyes and thought about his time as a child, living with his father, and he smiled.
Flame of candle does flicker at Vespa's words, and blue eyes like sharp steel dart from one step-child to the next, lingering on eldest prince (he is her own elder, and more temperamental than even she. She deems him as foe). Former queen will not stand by and take subtle accusations at the hands of dark sorceress. As sweet daughter takes Catherine's quivering hand within her own soft palm, reassurance does wash over her and she is grateful. Tenuous exhalation escapes through parted lips before words -- sharper than the finest of her husband's daggers -- pierce the air.
❝ I have heard enough from you, Vespa. Say no
more, if you wish to keep that tongue of yours. ❞
Her eldest son has gone, and though he seemed sweet enough when Catherine knew him, he would be p u p p e t to the whims of his lady mother. She almost shudders at the thought, for Vespa would surely banish Catherine and her sweet girls out of pure spite. Throne or no throne, she would not allow such injustice to fall upon her precious children, and she does not need to glance sideways to envision Elise and Chloe's faces. Enchantress rises to stand upon weary legs, weak with grief, and declares,
❝ My husband, is dead, and for now I remain your QUEEN
Whether you be crown prince or noble lady, do not presume
to command me. If I declare my daughters to be queens,
you will not question it -- should I name another to be king, you
will bow down and swear fealty to him. ❞
She basks in the silence that follows her words -- words one would think of only as pure lunacy, and the words of a woman so ridden with grief she has lost the capacity to think. Passion and fury weave intricate webs through her voice, and one could not doubt her courage (for she has the courage of any man).
❝ All of you will dance to whatever tune I sing. ❞
♛ ♛ ♛ ♛ ♛
E L I S E
The woman before her is not her lady mother; she burns with rage and FIRE. The princess' mother is kindly and loving and gentle in her caresses. When her children come to her, she does bestow kisses and smiles upon them -- she does not seethe and rampage like the raging storms that distress Elise so greatly. Azure hues widen at the sight of her mother in such a state. Elise does want to ask Rosalie what all the fuss is about, though she is not supposed to speak when adults are conversing about important matters. She nips at lower lip before leaning towards younger sister and inquiring in a voice lower than a whisper.
❝ Why is mother so angry? Is she upset about father? ❞
Chloe looks at her older sister Elise, bewildered that she had not been paying attention, or perhaps she was too naive to understand. Chloe whispered "they are worried about who will be in charge now that father is gone." Chloe knew that most people would assume that she and her sister Elise would not be old enough to understand such situations, but Chloe was vary perceptive, and although she didn't notice the more Adult subtleties of the situation, like the stares between the Broken hearted Ex and the love lost widow, she knew that there was tension in the air, and she knew, for the most part, what it was about. Chloe then stood up and smirked at the woman across the way, Lady Vespa "I think I would make a better Ruler then your son Brendan, he is a weakling who cries." she said matter-of-factly.
The glare from the former queen could have turned the most stoic warriors into stone. The breeze that was coming in paled in comparison to the icy atmosphere that was present.
❝Yes you are queen for now my dearest Catherine❞
She does silence herself at the moment the Lady she saw as her greatest enemy was correct for the time being was correct, but as long as there was a hair's breath in her body she would assure that Catherine's line would not obtain the throne. She left the throne room as confident as ever.

a successor. If i do gain the wretched throne on such a man i will make sure that i leave the legacy of king
Elric Rotavele in the shadow of KING SAUL.❞
The prince says out loud remembering the endless violence that were behind the castle walls when his father was a young man. The way his mother looked on and they call Saul a war mongerer but it was the glory of King Elric that brought upon the death of queen Eleanor. He remembers the night of his mothers death... the rage that was transferred onto Saul. Yes he killed the assassin but he wasn't able to protect his mother something that Elric did not want to ever happen again. Then with age his heart softened... what irony that it took another woman to soften the heart of that man.
As youngest daughter had spoken, sovereign had raised her arm in a defensive manner as if to shield Chloe from prying eyes, though she said naught of her bold words. Had she not been in mourning, she might have smiled just a little (she can feel the corner of her mouth twitching, as though she might smirk). As if to safeguard the girl, her mother does step slightly to the left, as though Vespa might strike at her, though the woman does turn and retreat to her surprise. Hair on the back of her neck bristles as she addresses her with such familiarity, taking it as a slight. She would never bow; not to Catherine, nor her girls. As she and her daughters are left alone, the queen dowager does allow imperceptible exhale to pass through pink lips, before giving eldest daughter's hand a reassuring squeeze. Forcing a smile, Catherine does turn to face Rosalie and place gentle hands upon her slender shoulders.
❝ My sweet, I promise you -- your claim will not be disregarded, nor your sisters.
You are your father's children as much as any of them, and more lovely and
beautiful. I swear to you, you will not be forgotten. I fear there is war coming. ❞
There is a gleam in her eye, as though she is already formulating some scheme; that mysterious twinkle her husband had never failed to notice. Gaze is turned away from Rosalie and towards the door. Exhaling once more, the blonde beauty does speak.
❝ Come, girls. ❞

❝ Chloe! ❞
Squeak arises from the princess before she can stop herself. Blue irises widen as brazen words tumble from her sister's lips as effortlessly as she herself might draw breath. Chloe is self-assured and outspoken, and though sometimes Elise might wish for her confidence, she gives thanks that she is a princess born and bred. She is surprised that her mother says nothing of her sister's boldness -- she thinks she can even see her smiling. Little princess does pout in a petulant manner, resisting the urge to cross her arms. Azure hues watch as Lady Vespa exits the room; Elise recalls her mother mentioning the woman once before, though she does not understand why there is so much tension. Middle child turns her attention to her sister instead, and informs her dryly.
❝ You must not say such things. It is unbecoming of a lady
of your status, and no one will want to marry you if you behave
like a child. Besides, you would never be queen, not before
Rosalie and I. In any case, we have brothers, and they
will rule before we do. ❞
Truly, Elise does not mean to offend her dear sister and seeks only to help, though her helpfulness is oft not appreciated. Fortunately, attention is turned away from her as queenly mother does command of them. The middle child is quick to oblige, lifting her head high before proceeding to trot after her mother, barely glancing back at Chloe.
